The compassionate vets at our Oakland veterinary animal clinic are dedicated to serving our beloved patients and their proud owners, backed by years of experience.
What to Expect at a Veterinary Appointment
Understanding what you can expect during your first appointment will help make the process easier - for both you and your pet.
Arrive at Our Office
Please come about 10 minutes early to fill out our New Patient Form. You may complete the New Patient Form online in advance to save some time.
Meet Your Veterinarian
A member of our veterinary team will review your pet's history and discuss their medical issues with you. You will have time to ask any questions you may have, and the vet will address them.
Examination, Diagnosis & Treatment
Once your pet has been examined, you'll be provided with a diagnosis and treatment options. Your veterinarian will work with you to determine which treatment path to take for your pet.

Here are some frequently asked questions from our patients regarding appointment booking, office policies, and payment options.
- What types of payment options are available?
When services are provided or upon discharge of your pet, payment is expected in full. Patients can pay via check, cash, MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover.
- Are there payment plans available for my pet’s care?
- Will I be provided with an estimate of costs?
A good-faith estimate of service costs will be provided before your pet is treated. However, not all circumstances are predictable and unforeseen events may arise that impact your final bill.
Our written estimate will be reviewed with each client before they leave our facility. A deposit based on our estimate is required before any further treatment will be administered.
- Should I call ahead to book an appointment?
- What is your appointment cancellation policy?
If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please notify us as soon as possible so another client may be able to use the vacated space in our schedule.
- What types of animals do you treat?
We provide veterinary care to cats and dogs.
- Where can I purchase my pet's prescription and food?
All medications and specialty food your pet will need can be purchased in our in-house pharmacy or via our online store.
- What are the fees associated with a veterinary appointment?
You are financially responsible for the initial examination fee, in addition to any diagnostics or treatment that you consent to for your pet. This payment is expected at the time services are provided.
For any further diagnostics, surgery, or other fees, a deposit is required upfront. Payment will be due in full upon discharge of your pet.
- What are the fees associated with an emergency visit?
For all emergency examinations, a deposit payment is required. Once your pet has been examined by our vets and staff, you will be provided with an estimate for treatment, and you'll have the opportunity to determine a treatment plan with your vet.
An upfront deposit is required for further diagnostics, surgery or other fees, with payment in full due upon your pet's discharge.
- Can you help with my pet insurance?
We are happy to assist you in filling out pet insurance forms for your pet's visit.
